An aspiring supermodel is hoping to emulate a fellow Kearns teenager after reaching the state finals of the Australian Supermodel of the Year.
Shannay Shrimpton, 15, said last year’s winner Kiane Gaut partly inspired her.
“(She showed) myself and other girls that no matter where you are from, if you are dedicated enough, you can achieve what you once thought was impossible,” Ms Shrimpton said.
The St Patrick’s College Campbelltown student entered the competition following a “fun and rewarding” modelling workshop in Sydney in July.
Ms Shrimpton completed her audition on Thursday and was hopeful she would be selected as one of 12 grand finalists.
“Honestly, there are a lot of lovely, gorgeous girls who are in the running to win, but I am hoping for the best,” she said.
“It would be amazing just to get there.”
Ms Shrimpton said people can support her by liking her photos on the Australia Supermodel of the Year Facebook and Instagram and she also had a message for those feeling anxious about their dreams.
“If anyone out there would like to do something, just give it a go,” she said.
