Like their parents, Jake, Milly, Tom, Harry and Lucy are huge Sharks fans.
So much so that Steve bought a few cans of blue and black paint for them to do some “minor” decorating of their white, two-storey home in Coral Road, Woolooware.
The couple couldn’t believe their eyes when they arrived home from an outing to find the house transformed and the street full of spectators, drawn by photos that went viral on social media.
“I thought about doing it myself 20 years ago,” Mr Waters confessed.
“The kids reminded me of that, so I agreed to buy some paint for them.
“I had no idea they would get their friends and our neighbours in to help.
“We couldn’t believe it when we saw what they had done – it’s a great job.”
Mr Waters, a building contractor, said it was a worthy show of support for the Sharks, whom he has followed all his life.
“We have been season ticket holders for 24 years,” he said.
“We have waited and waited…
“It can’t get much better if we win the premiership in the last game of the club’s 50 years in the competition.”
Mr Waters likes the Sharks chances, without being over confident.
“There is no favoured player – each player does his own job and does it well,” he said.
“They need to do their job better than the other team on Sunday.”
