THE Socceroo Jason Culina and his wife, Terri, have bought Denham Court, the grand colonial mansion overlooking Ingleburn, for about $1.3 million through Tim Doyle of Ray White Macarthur Group.
Set on 2.42 hectares on Campbelltown Road, the magnificent heritage-listed five-bedroom residence was sold by the Okey family, who first listed it more than two years ago through another agent with hopes for $2.5 million. Classified by the National Trust, the early 19th-century house was bought in 1974 by Dr Keith Okey, who died last month.
He restored the home, which he shared with his wife, Patricia, and four sons, and furnished it with a collection of pre-1830s period pieces, many made from Australian cedar.
Two years ago the antique collection was sold by Sotheby's, realising more than $2 million.
The circa 1812 house is set in manicured gardens, with a tennis court and a sandstone coach house. The residence has a ballroom, library and large formal living and dining rooms.
The adjoining suburb of Denham Court is named after the property.
