Tasmania’s Central Plateau woke up on Wednesday morning to a light sprinkling of snow.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted snow for above 800 metres throughout the day.
The Great Lake Hotel continued its tradition of being the first snow reporter, advising of sightings of the white stuff via its Facebook page on Tuesday evening.
It should not last long, with rain predicted again from Thursday into the weekend.
Tasmania Police has advised of some road closures around the state:
- Pinnacle Road at Ferntree has been closed at the Springs, due to ice and snow.
- Four-wheel drives or snow chains are advised for Highland Lakes Road from Golden Valley to the Steps, and on Poatina Road from Highland Lakes Road to Poatina.
