An American father of six children has taken the elf on a shelf trend to a whole new level by casting his four-month-old son as the elf.
Blogger Alan Lawrence set up the super cute series of snaps after becoming intrigued with the elf on a shelf concept.

"We have never had an Elf on the Shelf in our home but the idea has always intrigued me. Parents letting elves in their homes to watch their kids and cause mischief," he told Buzzfeed.

"Then one day someone told us that Rockwell looked like an elf and the idea came to me. What if a real life elf came to live with us for the holidays and how would I react in real life to having it show up to live with us."
In the pictures, a totally adorable Rockwell is seen engaging in mischief including wrapping the toilet in Christmas paper, putting cookies in the VCR and playing Connect 4 with Godzilla.
Lawrences poses his son for the photos, but then edits the pictures himself to place elf Rockwell in amusing situations.

Lawrence says he plans to release a new photo each day in the lead up to Christmas. Our ovaries are hurting, are yours?
