Cooking demonstration
Cherrybrook author Rena Patten will demonstrate cooking and talk about it at Cherrybrook Village shopping centre on December 16 and 18. She will share her passion for cooking with quinoa and its health benefits while talking about her latest book, Best of Quinoa, and previous Cooking with Kale and Superfoods.
It's at the front of the What's Cooking store on December 16, 11am to 1pm, and on December 18, 11am to 2pm.

Volunteers needed
Foodbank NSW urgently needs volunteers in January to help pack food parcels to be distributed to hungry people around NSW. Foodbank is a non-profit organisation which acts as a pantry to charities and community groups who feed the hungry. Packing will take place in the company's new distribution centre at Glendenning on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in January, 8.30am to 2pm. For safety reasons all volunteers must wear fully-enclosed shoes. Foodbank NSW is at 50 Owen Street, Glendenning.

Indian food tour
Taste Tours is taking bookings now for a cultural food tour at Harris Park on January 16. The day-long tour will explore the aromatic spices of Indian cuisine and people will go on a tasting journey of Indian street food around the suburb. Participants will be shown shops selling a variety of items such as spices, saris, Bollywood DVDs and jewellery. Cost: $75. The tour will be on again on February 6.
