Police are treating the death of a 44-year-old man who fell from the window of an apartment building in Sydney's lower north shore on Saturday night as suspicious.
Police were called to Carter Street in Cammeray about 5.40pm on Saturday after neighbours saw the man fall from the eighth storey to the ground.
Officers and paramedics arrived to find the man had died.
Police have not confirmed whether anyone has been arrested, but neighbours have reported hearing arguing in the lead-up to the man falling and the death is being treated as suspicious while further inquiries are made.
Officers believe the man was not a resident at the address and was visiting someone in the building.
A crime scene has been set up at the building, which is being examined by forensic officers and detectives.
One resident who did not want to be named reported hearing "some kind of argument" shortly before the man fell.
"There was a bit of shouting but that's all I heard, I was inside when it happened," he said.
"Then there were sirens everywhere."
One woman, who said the first she heard of the incident was "the sound of sirens" said the man fell directly in front of her parked car.
"They were still cleaning up at about 1am," she said.
"I'd never seen the guy before, but it's a big building.
"You recognise faces, but they're not your best friends."
The woman said it was "not at all like Cammeray".
"It's an affluent area," she said. "There are a lot of older people, and a lot of families.
"It isn't a hip, exciting suburb, it's very quiet."
