BIG windows and sliding doors are popular features in modern homes.
They bring in plenty of light and fresh air, but the downside is that they also allow the cold into the house.
Cranking up the heating isn't the answer, as it will simply have to work overtime to keep the cold at bay as it continues to flow into the house through the glass.
The answer is to block the cold from entering in the first place.
A recent Australian Energy Retailer report found that energy-efficient window coverings could save the average NSW household up to $392 a year on heating and cooling costs.
Luxaflex Duette Shades have a cell-within-a-cell honeycomb design that insulates against the cold.
Jenny Brown, the national marketing manager for Luxaflex Window Fashions, said the honeycomb construction of Luxaflex Duette Shades gave them excellent insulation performance and provided exceptional energy savings for home owners.
"Luxaflex Duette Architella Ménage is a revolutionary fabric range, providing unrivalled energy efficiency in the home," Ms Brown said.
"The Ménage Fabric range features three honeycomb cells, nestled inside each other, that create six layers of fabric and five insulating pockets of air, crafting a chic window covering that provides more insulation than any other window covering on the market."
