TIME marches on and preparations are well under way for the eighth annual 24-Hour Fight Against Cancer on Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21, at Campbelltown Athletics Stadium at Leumeah.

It's always wonderful to witness the wider Macarthur community coming together in droves each year to fund-raise so local people with cancer can have the best medical equipment and support services possible.

Sometimes it's in thanks for the world-class care a loved one has been given and sometimes it's in remembrance of someone we have lost.

Very often it's just based on the knowledge that any day it could be a family member who needs the support of the Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre, the Paediatric Cancer Care Unit or at the Camden Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

There are many ways to help.

You can make a donation, buy or sell raffle tickets or register a team to participate in the event.

You can sponsor someone you know who is involved or you can just come down on the day, enjoy the amazingly vibrant community atmosphere and buy lunch from the sausage sizzle run by Ingleburn Rotary.

The most important thing to be aware of is every dollar raised stays right here in Macarthur to aid the treatment, recovery and comfort of cancer patients.
