The Abbott government's new-look cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday, bringing to a close a tumultuous first calendar year for the Coalition.

Occurring just days before Christmas, the significant reshuffle will give Prime Minister Tony Abbott's ministry time to refresh for 2015 and busy themselves over summer preparing for new policy battlegrounds on welfare, jobs, and paid parental leave.
It shows Mr Abbott believed his government needed to be rejuvenated before the year's end after a bruising six months fighting over his budget.
"These ministerial changes will put jobs and families at the heart of the government's agenda for 2015," Prime Minister Abbott said on Tuesday.
"This is a government which is committed to building a stronger and more prosperous economy for a safe and secure Australia."
Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove, who officiated at the swearing-in ceremony for the first time as Australia's new governor general, wished the new ministers and parliamentary secretaries well, predicting 2015 would be another busy year.
"I hope that you can have a restful break if that is to be in your favour," Mr Cosgrove said.
The changes Mr Abbott has made to his ministry are:
Education Minister Christopher Pyne has added Training to his portfolio.
Scott Morrison has left his Immigration and Border Protection portfolio and has picked up Social Services. The move is a promotion after a tough year in immigration and will lift him into the government's powerful economics team. It will put him at the centre of potentially bruising debates on welfare and unemployment next year because it will be up to him to carry the government's family and childcare packages.
Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane has added Science to his portfolio, in an admission from Mr Abbott that it was a mistake not to have a dedicated science minister in 2014.
Kevin Andrews picked up the Defence portfolio from the dumped David Johnston. He made way for Scott Morrison, who has taken over his old Social Services role. Mr Andrews has already faced criticism in Defence circles for comments he made years ago that he had little interest in defence matters.
Peter Dutton has left his Health and Sport portfolio and picked up the Immigration and Border Protection portfolio from Scott Morrison.
Sussan Ley has been promoted to cabinet, picking up the Health and Sport portfolio from Peter Dutton. She is now the second woman in cabinet, joining Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop.
Promising junior members of the Coalition have been recognised by Prime Minister Abbott with promotions to assistant minister or parliamentary secretary positions.
Simon Birmingham has moved into the outer ministry ranks as Assistant Minister for Education and Training. Prior to this he was parliamentary secretary to the Environment Minister.
Josh Frydenberg has become Assistant Treasurer following a strong performance on the government's deregulation agenda. He takes over from Arthur Sinodinos, who stepped aside following an ICAC investigation.
Steven Ciobo has become parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Trade and Investment.
Christian Porter has become parliamentary secretary for the Prime Minister.
Scott Ryan has become parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Education and Training.
Robert Baldwin has become parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Environment.
Kelly O'Dwyer has become parliamentary secretary to the Treasurer.
Karen Andrews has become parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Industry and Science.
