AFTER finishing his Higher School Certificate exams last Friday, Ruse swimmer Daniel Tranter is training mode for the World School Games in Doha, Qatar.
He'll be training nine times a week and going to the gym to prepare for next month's Games.
``I had a two-week break over the school holidays to study, so it's not too bad,'' Tranter said.
``I'm feeling pretty good at the moment.
``I haven't had any serious injuries yet this year, so I haven't had to worry about missing any training and my body should be able to keep up with the more intense training.''
Tranter, 17, held a golf day on October 23 to help raise money towards the $5500 which he needs for the trip.
Twenty people who attended the event raised more than $500.
Tranter has also received a total of $3500 from Westfields Sports High, St Johns Park Bowling Club and Smithfield RSL.
He will be competing in six swims in Qatar, including his best event, the 400 metre international medley.
He will also compete in the 200m international medley, 100m freestyle, 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly.
``He's looking forward to a new experience in another country and competing with top athletes from around the world,'' said father Peter Tranter.
Tranter was put in learn-to-swim classes at the Bradbury Pool when he was a tot.
He now swims at the Whitlam Centre at Liverpool with coach Ben Tuxford of Mount Annan.
