08 Jul, 2009 11:54 AM
AFTER weeks of near misses Wests Tigers finally delivered, belting Souths 54-20 in the round 17 NRL match at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers get a bye this weekend and then have eight remaining games to make a late-season bid for finals football.

Sitting third last on 14 points six points adrift of the top eight, the bye will automatically give the Tigers two precious points.

Wests Tigers hooker and skipper Robbie Farah was influential in eight of his team's 10 tries in a magnificent performance.

Tim Moltzen slotted well at halfback and Benji Marshall was controlled and composed back in his customary five-eighth position.

British second rower Gareth Ellis was again the team's best forward with an amazing work rate.

The Tigers' next game is the against the Cowboys at Leichhardt Oval on July 19.
