WESTS Tigers have surged into fifth on the NRL ladder with three rounds before the finals and the rampaging Taniela Tuiaki is poised to break records.
The powerful winger is the NRL's leading tryscorer with 21 and has set a new club record for the most four-pointers scored in a season.
Former winger Pat Richards held the record at 20 when the Tigers won the premiership in 2005.
And Tuiaki is now chasing the club record of 43 tries set by winger Daniel Fitzhenry in 119 games for the Tigers.
In 77 career matches the Kiwi international, Tuiaki, sits on 42, with a three-try effort in Sunday's 56-10 thrashing of Cronulla moving him closer to the record.
The big Tigers' win over the hapless Sharks was their sixth on the trot, elevating them to fifth on 26 points with a plus 26 differential.
The Tigers now prepare for the blockbuster against Parramatta this Friday night at the Sydney Football Stadium, starting 7.35pm.
The Eels have won five straight and like the Tigers are playing a lethal attacking brand of football which is literally running opposing teams off their legs and creating holes like moon craters in their defences.
In other news, versatile Dene Halatau has signed for three years with the Bulldogs and will join them in 2010.
Promising centre Peni Tagive has signed with the Dragons for next year.
