THE second local Midnight Basketball tournament was held on Friday, October 23 at Minto Indoor Sports Centre.
Launched in Redfern in 2006, Midnight Basketball tournaments will also be held in Tamworth, Armidale, Orange, Woolloomooloo and Marrickville.
The Midnight Basketball program targets 12- to 18-year-olds to get them off the street on Friday nights.
The event is fully supervised, with dinner, uniforms and transport home provided.
It includes basketball, dinner workshops which teach about sexual health, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, self-esteem and employment.
To play basketball youth must first participate in the workshops.
