Stolen clothes lead to arrest

28 Oct, 2009 12:00 AM
A LEUMEAH woman, 24, was arrested last week in relation to an organised shoplifting and receiving racket.

Campbelltown detectives attached to Operation Crunch executed a search warrant last Wednesday at Woronora Avenue and seized designer clothes worth about $10,000. Police say the clothes were stolen from Myer department stories and then resold on eBay.

The woman was charged with stealing, goods in custody and disposing of stolen goods.

She is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday, November 11.

Boy, 13, charged

A Claymore boy, 13, was arrested on Thursday and charged with four counts of break, enter and steal, five counts of stealing, three counts of trespass and one of malicious damage. Campbelltown police arrested him in Catchpole Street, St Helens Park, after reports of suspicious activity around parked cars. Detectives are continuing their investigations into these offences. The boy is due to appear in Campbelltown Children's Court on November 9.

Grinder accident

A Macquarie Fields man is in a serious condition at Liverpool Hospital after an accident with a stump grinder on Friday.

The man, 65, was left unconscious with serious head, shoulder and arm injuries. He was digging post holes at his property. An NRMA CareFlight trauma team came to his property in Edgar Street and stabilised him before taking him to Liverpool Hospital.

Armed robberies

Three masked men armed with a gun and knives robbed Gattea Jewellers at Market Fair Shopping Centre on Friday.

The store owner and a female customer were detained while the men stole the contents of the safe and a lot of jewellery on display before escaping in a stolen vehicle, which was recovered at the weekend.

On Sunday morning, Ribs and Rumps at Park Central was also robbed by three armed men.

The men, all with their faces covered, assaulted the manager and stole a money from the safe, before running from the scene. An employee said he saw a gun and a knife during the incident.

Anyone with information on either crime should call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.

A Minto toddler was unconscious for 20 minutes after he fell from a sofa last Thursday night.

He regained consciousness shortly after ambulance paramedics and an NRMA CareFlight doctor arrived at the 19-month-old boy's house in Minto Road.

Serious assault

A Rosemeadow man, 26, suffered serious facial injuries after an 18th birthday party in Theseus Court during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man, a neighbour of the hosts of the party, was allegedly assaulted by three men after he approached a man he had seen kicking his car. He needed surgery.
