The local Liberal Selection Committee also chose Jai Rowell, who was the only nominee, as its candidate for the state seat of Wollondilly.

Cr Matheson said he wished Mr Farmer well in his endeavours with the Liberal Party.

``There has never been a personality clash between me and Pat,'' he said.

``I think Pat has made a significant contribution to the Macarthur community and he will still make a huge contribution to the Liberal Party.

``He is a very loyal person and very loyal to the party.

``We spoke about things after the meeting and things are very amicable.

``The State Government has been a basket-case lately and I am looking forward to voice my people's opinions.''
