SEVERAL local names have been circulating as possible ALP preselection contenders for the Federal seat of Macarthur but none of them have been officially approached by the party.
Wheelchair athlete Paul Nunnari, Campbelltown pediatrician Michael Freelander and Camden deputy mayor Greg Warren are among names rumoured to be potential candidates for the seat.
But to get there they would likely have to go up against Nick Bleasdale, the Labor candidate in 2007.
Mr Nunnari said he would consider the position if he was asked but he was content with his current role as Campbelltown state MP Graham West's adviser.
``Nothing will be finalised until the boundaries are finalised,'' he told the Advertiser.
Cr Warren said he had not pursued the seat or been approached yet.
``I never rule anything out though,'' he said.
``I am very focussed on doing what I do.
``I'll do what is in the best interest of my community because I enjoy being a member of my local branch and dealing with local issues.''
Dr Freelander said he would have to discuss the position with his family before he accepted any role, if he were approached.
``I would have to discuss it with my wife and family my youngest daughter will be in year 11 next year and she needs a lot of support,'' he said.
``Otherwise I have always been interested in politics.''
The preselection winner would go to the polls against sitting Liberal MP Pat Farmer or former mayor Russell Matheson, who is challenging him to become the Liberal candidate.
