WERRIWA MP Chris Hayes MP is encouraging locals to celebrate Harmony Day on Sunday.
The event, with this year's theme Express Yourself, urges people to celebrate diversity in workplaces, community groups and schools through performance, fashion and food.
Mr Hayes said the event began in 1999 and has had community support in the past.
``It provides opportunities for people to come together and celebrate importantly, it is an opportunity to address issues of cultural, racial and religious intolerance through community activities that break down barriers and bring about respect,'' he said.
``There is no limit to the range of activities that can be held for Harmony Day and I encourage schools, community groups and businesses to support this day of celebration.
Another way to participate in the event is to host a day called A Taste of Harmony, which encourages all workplaces to celebrate the cultural diversity of their staff through food.
