The Campbelltown Macarthur Advertiser is, once again, behind Hurlstone Agricultural High School's endeavours to keep their land and heritage.

The Advertiser successfully campaigned for the school to keep their land in a similar situation in 1982.

* Rally at Parliament House, Wednesday, November 26

How outrageous that the government's fiscal incompetence has to be solved by selling off one of the most beautiful, critical and important pieces of educational land in Australia. Shame Labor, Shame. We won't let you get away with it.

Why is the government placing their pockets before our education?

Disgusting sale of a quality educational asset. SAVE THE FARM! Rather than sell the farm, how about improving it, and making it an educational resource for schools from all around Sydney to visit. Bus students in from 'Boing Urban Schools' for a day of education on the farm! This country is built on Agriculture, we should be encouraging kids in urban centres to learn about it, and experience it, without travelling for hours to see a real farm.

Once upon a time there was a great ag school. It sat there for 81 years doing a great job. One day, a government came along that was so useless it managed to bankrupt the state after less than one year in power. To balance the books and prevent it from looking silly in front of all the voters, the government decided to sell off the school's land to make a quick dollar. True story. Sad story.

If only the goats on Macquarie Street had spent more time near a real farm. They'd see the folly they are embarking upon by selling out a practical school farm and valuable greenspace. An ag school without a farm is like a pub with no beer - as useless as...

We need to improve education including agriculture especially in these times. How can selling Hurlstone Farm be considered especially when agriculture needs as much help as possible?

The livelihood of such a great institution as Hurlstone being thrown away by a government trying to scavenge back money via any means does more to accentuate their incompetence and lack of genuine concern regarding education.

I write to express my disgust with the NSW Government wanting to sell the farm at Hurlstone Agricultural School. Why does the Department of Education want to reduce the quality of education? Why does the Department of Education undermine the best school in the region? What bureaucrat decided that the land should be sold? What motivated this? What is he doing in the Education Department if he is happy to reduce the Hurlstone farm? Absolute shame on him. I dare him to own up to this decision.

has the nsw government sunken so low that they must sell off seven eighths of a school to raise money for other "schools and infrastructure"? I don't see any improvements to our health system, trains are still overcrowded, teachers/nurses/policemen are still underpaid- where has all the state's money gone? I would have thought that NSW couldn't be in worser hands than Morris Iemma, but clearly, Nathan Rees has proven otherwise. His lack of experience and desire to make a quick buck and bandaid a bullet wound will not only ruin his credibility but will also mar a great school such as Hurlstone. Something MUST be done to prevent the selling of Hurlstone land.
