Emergency staff tell of ward work

05 Nov, 2009 03:00 AM
THE emergency departments at Camden and Campbelltown hospitals will be the focus of a community information session at Camden Library on Friday.

Sellapa Prahalath, the hospitals' director of emergency medicine, will explain the status of the emergency departments and answer questions from the public.

Dr Prahalath will also explain the difficulties experienced by emergency departments and say what the Macarthur Health Service is doing in response.

Dr Prahalath will be joined by emergency department nurse manager Grant Isdale.

The information session was organised by the Camden Hospital Focus Group.

Lorraine Iddon said: ``It is very important that the community engage with the health service in these discussions of the issues which impact the health service and ultimately us.

``This is where you can hear the reasons for health service decisions in our hospitals.

``Carers and support groups will benefit from this session knowing what to expect when presenting at emergency.''

The information session is from 10am-noon. Bookings, for catering purposes: Lorraine on 4655 4546 or Ros on 4655 3895.
