Campbelltown Show to remain at Menangle

09 Sep, 2009 03:11 PM
THE Campbelltown Show Society has made a verbal agreement to remain at Menangle Park Paceway for next year's show in April.

Society president Ralph Perry said he was awaiting the official nod and that some members were relieved.

``There were some members who wanted to see the show go ahead and others who didn't maybe because they were frightened,'' he said.

``There are a couple of really good workers there who will continue to keep the show running.''

The show had accumulated about $20,000 of debt after poor crowds last year.

Last month, secretary Mary Whitfeld said one reason the society was seeking an alternate venue was that the harness club was becoming more popular and holding more race meetings.

The show society's next meeting will be held in the CWA hall, King Street, Campbelltown, on Wednesday, October7, at 7.30pm.
