Campbelltown police briefs, September 23

A MOTORIST attempted to grab a schoolgirl, 14, in Dickens Road, Ambarvale, on Friday at 8.30pm.

He was described as about 20 and 170 centimetres tall and driving a red P-plate Commodore sedan.

Police said he stopped to ask the girl for directions then got out of the car and grabbed her schoolbag but she escaped and hid in bushes.

She told police he had a deep voice and was wearing a baggy, yellow jumper and dark trousers.

Rider hurt

A motorcyclist, 23, is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car early in Macquarie Fields on Friday.

Ambulance officers said an oncoming car collided with him in Harold Street. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital and police investigations are continuing.

Laptop taken

An Ambarvale woman, 35, was arrested on Friday over the theft of a laptop computer from an internet cafe in Queen Street, Campbelltown, on Wednesday.

She was charged with larceny, receiving and having stolen goods, and will appear at Campbelltown Local Court today, September 23.

Teens sloshed

Police closed an 18th-birthday party at Campbelltown Civic Centre on Saturday after it got out of control.

Officers said it was a ``bring your own alcohol'' function and that ambulance crews called found about 120 people severely intoxicated at 10pm.

No one was charged.

Masked men

Three disguised men, one wearing a clown mask and armed with a hammer, stole cash and bottles of methadone from a pharmacy in a medical centre at the corner of Queen and Allman streets, Campbelltown, on Friday at about 9.30pm.

Police said two of the men, wearing balaclavas, were armed with knives when they entered.

No one was injured.

Truck torched

Firefighters extinguished a truck ablaze just before 4am on Sunday in Brian Road, Appin. Police said it had been stolen from a warehouse in Smeaton Grange earlier.

Fake card

A Condell Park man, 35, is facing fraud charges over the use of a fake credit card at the Forty Winks shop in Campbelltown last Tuesday.

Police said when they were called to the store at 3pm to arrest the man, he proffered a fake driver's licence as well.

He was charged with possessing a false instrument and being a disqualified driver.

He will appear in Campbelltown Local Court

on October 7.
