Astronomer shares vision in quest for knowledge

09 Dec, 2009 08:36 AM
DISTINGUISHED astronomer Professor Bryan Gaensler has become a co-patron of the Macarthur Astronomical Society.

Professor Gaensler joins Dr Bhathal as patron of the society, which president John Rombi said was a ``boost'' for the Macarthur region.

Professor Gaensler works at the University of Sydney and is one of the world's leading experts on cosmic magnetism.

He was named the Young Australian of the Year in 1999 and took up a Hubble Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, then worked at the Smithsonian Institution and Harvard University, before returning to Sydney in 2006.
