CAMDEN resident Sandie White grew up with the music of Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. On Friday night she will perform their music.
``I've been hearing this music all my life and I'm not young. I've been singing this sort of music since I was a little girl basically,'' White said.
``During the Second World War my mother had a radio program on 2UE and she used to play all that sort of music.''
White will sing with a jazz trio made up of Ray Alldridge on piano, Dave Pudney on bass and Tim Firth on drums.
``People get frightened by the word `jazz' but they'll really get a good night of music. I perform with these people a great deal. We have a lot of fun and the music is really delicious. I mean, these people wrote great songs and it's just exciting music.''
She will perform at the Campbelltown Arts Centre to raise money for the refurbishment of the gallery.
``The gallery's all run by volunteers and that's why they have these friends of the gallery who volunteer their services and then come along and support them at various events that they have.''
Cole with Soul and Rodgers with a Hart will be presented at Campbelltown Arts Centre at 8pm on Friday.
Tickets are $30 ($25 for friends of the gallery). Bookings are essential, phone 46454100 for more information.
