FOLLOWING on from a huge 2009, Tori Darke (pictured) is looking to go to the next level this year.
The Kearns-raised singer started 2010 with finalist berths in the annual Toyota Star Maker and Telstra Road to Tamworth competitions.
While she missed out on the top prizes, she did return with a Gold Medallion Award as NSW New Talent of the Year, selected by the World Alliance for Radio Presenters.
While she has sights set on recording a full-length debut release, Tori is part of cancer fund-raiser Concert for a Cure, to be held on Saturday, March20, at the Blacktown Olympic Park Athletics Precinct, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill.
Running from noon to 8pm, it will also feature sets by acts such as Beccy Cole.
Matt Lawrence, editor of our sister publication, the Blacktown Sun, is one of the event organisers. In 2008 he lost his wife to ovarian cancer.
Last year he hosted a smaller-scale fund-raiser, in which Tori was also involved. Westmead Medical Research Foundation has been chosen to benefit.
Concert for a Cure tickets available through Blacktown Council, 98396000 or Blacktown Workers Club, 98300600 or at the gate on the day. Details: concert4cure.com.au.
