IT WAS business as usual at the Mount Annan Gardens Restaurant on Sunday except for one thing: after lunch it closed for good.
Said the owner, Kylie Brooks: ``Everyone's just a little sad to see us go, I think.
``We've been here for 18 years and we've seen a lot of customers grow up who started off as kids and now they're getting married.
``We've got a group of walkers who have come out every Sunday for eight years, so they're a bit concerned about who's going to make their iced coffees on a Sunday morning.''
Many regulars visited to say goodbye, including Cheryl Care, a customer of seven years who celebrated her birthday on the day, and Muriel and Arthur Jones, who have been regulars since the restaurant opened.
Mrs Brooks said she and her husband Sean had enjoyed flicking through notes in the guestbook and reminiscing.
``The first entry was from my Dad and he just put `WELL DONE','' Mrs Brooks said.
``There are heaps of entries in there, including one which just says: `John Howard, Prime Minister A great meal'. I was quite happy with that one! On Sunday Cheryl Care's party wrote: `Thank you for looking after us for the last seven years. Every meal has been fabulous. Best wishes for your new ventures.'''
Sean and Kylie Brooks are taking time to spend with their family and especially their daughters, Emily and Lilly.
Mrs Brooks thanks the customers, family, friends and her parents, who gave financial and emotional support over the years and helped them get up and running.
