AMBARVALE hip-hop artist N.J.Edwards, or NJE, will launch the video of his new single Appetiser (The Entree) this Saturday night.
The song is about musicians working in jobs they don't enjoy on their way to stardom.
But NJE said he has a good job.
``I'm dressed as a chef and I'm rapping about food topics as well and there's a bit of humour in it,'' he said.
``At the end of the film clip I deliver a pizza and I'm running late.
``I give the pizza to the guy and he looks at it as though it's the wrong pizza and then they throw me in the pool.
``A lot of people think that hip-hop has got to be a certain way where you act like a gangster or sell drugs but Aussie hip-hop is a different sort of thing and we try to portray our own lifestyle.''
The video will be on YouTube a few days after the launch, where those attending will have an exclusive viewing of the clip.
NJE is a solo hip-hop artist who has supported such groups as Xhibit and D12.
The launch will be held from 8pm to 1am at Hermanns Bar, Sydney University, with support artists including locals Untaymable and CFOE.
``When I first started 10 years ago, not many people helped the young local artists and I'd like to change that and give them some inspiration to take their music where they can,'' he said.
Tickets to the launch are $10 or $15 at the door.
